Remember - it's always hot in Saint Louis on the fourth of July.
It wasn't quite as pressing as it has been in years past, but still pretty hot.
It's hard to tell how a Wednesday fourth will affect the crowd. A great crowd of several hundred arrived early enough to sit under the tent and enjoy good music; thousands more enjoyed from outside the tent. Cornet Chop Suey held the stage with world-class big band jazz just before Serapis. It was nice to have Brian Casserly stick around and play a few tunes with us. Dave Cheli added sax, and we were off and running.
The sound is always good there - and this year was no exception.
Thanks to everyone who came out, and to those who came up and talked.
